IRON MAN: BENEATH THE ARMOR

NEW BOOK NEWS - Purchased today (from London's Cinema Store, no doubt copies will appear everywhere else in the near future):
IRON MAN: BENEATH THE ARMOR by Andy Mangels (he of the impressive facial hair) and published (at least in the States) by Del Rey.

At first glance, this is a great official guide to the Iron Avenger (published, of course, to coincide with the upcoming feature film), heavily illustrated with artwork from throughout the character's history as well as information on the animated series (now available on DVD in the UK) and the direct-to-DVD animated movie (well worth a look especially now it's priced-to-go at Woolies and available in a reasonably-priced box set along with Marvel's three other recent animated 'movies').  The final pages include some great CGI diagrams of the various incarnations of ol' Shell Head's armour.

Plugs for the movie are surprisingly limited, this is the history of Iron Man in comics.

A very nice book... it bodes well for Mangel's upcoming tribute to Wonder Woman.  It deserves a place on your shelf next to previous Marvel tomes including Spider-man: The Icon, The Marvel Encyclopedia (ideal for those who can't be bothered with the Official Handbook series) and, of course, Marvel: Five Fabulous Decades of the World's Greatest Comics.  Marvel hype?  Never!
